Persepolis book is written by Marjane Satrapi and published in 2000. Basically this book story about her childhood and coming of age in Iran during and after Islamic Revolution and social changes and political government in Iran.
In this book “Persepolis” Marjane Satrapi shares experience growing up in Tehran Iran before and after revolution Story begin in 1979. Her family confused by the political changes and rise Islamic extremism in Iran, struggling to adjust shown in this book share the struggle and experience her family.
Marjane’s parents are supporting of the revolution and feel threatened and oppressed.Her parents decide to send her to Vienna Austria attend the school and lives save with host family.
Marjane’s faces challenges in Austria i.e culture shock and loneliness, discrimination and racism because she is Iranian identity that’s why she return to Iran she find outs things have not unstable and the government has become overwhelming and she cannot express herself without any hesitation and freedom exploitation.
Over all this book Marjane holds her identity as an Iranian, self expression and desire for freedom. Marjane is deeply influence by deaths of family member and friend killed during revolution by the Government
